An Introduction to the Realme GT 5 Pro
The Realme GT 5 Pro is an exciting new phone that was recently launched in China and will be coming to India in February 2023. With so many high-end phones in the Rs. 50,000 segment, is the Realme GT 5 Pro a worthy contender? Let’s take a closer look at the features and specifications to find out.
Design and Build Quality
- The phone has a vegan leather back which gives it a unique look and feel. The build quality seems sturdy except for the protruding camera module.
- It weighs 222 grams making it quite heavy and prone to damage if dropped. The curved front display also makes it less stable when kept on a table.
Display
- The GT 5 Pro sports a big 6.78-inch AMOLED display with a fast 144Hz refresh rate and high 500 nits typical brightness.
- It has slim bezels all around thanks to the curved edges. This results in an immersive viewing experience.
Performance
- With the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip and up to 12GB RAM, performance should be blazing fast.
- Gaming will be smooth with frame rates up to 120FPS supported in titles like BGMI and COD Mobile.
- The UFS 4.0 storage ensures fast app load times and data transfers.
Camera
- The camera system consists of a 50MP main sensor, 8MP periscope lens with 3x optical zoom, and an 8MP ultrawide.
- Image quality seems inconsistent at times with oversharpening and unnatural colors visible.
- The selfie camera captures decent shots but skin tones tend to be whitish.
Battery Life
- A hefty 5000mAh battery capacity ensures all-day endurance.
- Incredibly fast 100W wired and 50W wireless charging support helps fill up the battery quickly.
Software
- Realme UI 5.0 based on Android 14 brings new AI-powered features like palm unlock and gesture navigation.
- But these seem gimmicky for now and do not work well consistently. More optimization is needed.
Connectivity
- All standard connectivity options like 5G, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.4, and NFC are present.
- The USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-C port enables fast 10Gbps data transfers
Security
- There is an under-display fingerprint sensor and face unlock feature available. Palm unlock is also present but not very reliable.
Additional Features
- IP64 water and dust resistance rating.
- Excellent stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos support.
Value for Money
The Realme GT 5 Pro brings great performance and display quality at an expected price of around Rs. 50,000. However, alternatives like the OnePlus 12, Vivo X90, and Galaxy S24 Plus promise tough competition. The inconsistent camera is also a letdown. But if raw power along with a unique design is what you want, the GT 5 Pro makes for a decent option.

My Conclusion on the Realme GT 5 Pro
The Realme GT 5 Pro brings some great specs to the table like the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip, fast charging, and an excellent display. The periscope camera for 3x optical zoom is also a nice addition not seen in this price range.
However, with fierce competition from the likes of OnePlus, Vivo, and Samsung in the Rs. 50,000 segment, it will be tough for Realme to stand out. The camera performance seems inconsistent at times and there are still some software optimizations needed.
Overall though, the Realme GT 5 Pro is a solid package for the price. If you’re looking for a phone with top-notch performance and a beautiful display with some extra camera tricks, it makes for a good option. But there are plenty of flagships to choose from in this range, so make sure to compare thoroughly before making a decision.
